Explore the wonders of Munich on a relaxing bike ride with the world-famous Mike’s Bike Tours Classic Bike Tour.
We are proud to have over 5 950 five star reviews on Tripadvisor, showing our Munich bike tour is a must for all travellers seeking a fun, interesting and entertaining way to get to know the city we love. With more official bicycle paths than any other city in Germany, Munich offers a unique and safe opportunity for those who love to feel the freedom of exploring on two wheels.
Our experienced guides will not only show you the city highlights but will also keep you entertained with fun facts, jokes, and anecdotes from the city’s impressive 860 years of history.
Our bike tour includes 8 stops to the most emblematic buildings of the city of Munich.
Did you know Napoleon had a role in Munich’s history? We’ll tell you all about how he impacted our city at the magnificent Max Joseph Platz, talk about our first King, and introduce you to the expansive and beautiful Residenz. We’ll then roll over to an interesting and history-heavy stop at the stunning Odeonsplatz, where we will learn about Munich’s role in WWII. Up next is a ride through the majestic Hofgarten as we make our way to the enigmatic Bavarian State Chancellery .
From there, our guides will take you to our happy place: the gorgeous English Garden, home of the second-largest beer garden in the world, The Chinese Tower. We will give you ample time to sample the best cuisine Munich has to offer under the blue and white Bavarian sky along with a nice cold drink or BEER in your hand!
After lunch, we will take you to one of the coolest highlights of the city. A surprise, hint, it has to do with a wave, a surfboard and wetsuits. We are kind of giving it away here. We will also provide you with tons of tips and useful information regarding the Oktoberfest. Where to go, how to get there and things to look after.
We are confident that after a day spent with us, you will understand why guests from 1995 and on have come back years later with their children and spouses. Because of our dedicated guests, the phrase, “If you are in Munich, you have to do Mike’s Bike Tours,” will soon become part of your history with us, too!
Our guides have been and will always be the greatest asset of our company. This is the reason why people keep coming back to our tours. Each guide brings their unique style to her/his tour every single time. You can book two of the same tours with different guides and have different, unique, and fun experiences.
That is our promise. Mike’s Bike Tours Munich is proud of this and we will fight anyone who disagrees! (Just kidding, but we definitely stand behind our word.)
Reservations are recommended, however one can also just show up at our meeting point at the appropriate time and most of the time can get on the tour without a reservation.
In 2023 we are glad to be receiving 200 new bikes in addition to the 100 we purchased in 2022. Our bikes are comfortable and of a higher quality now in 2023 than in the history of our company. Our bikes have gears although the terrain is almost always completely flat. We only ride a total of 4 miles and so our bikes are more than appropriate for this leisurely, short ride.
We also have bikes of all different sizes for kids, small and tall. We also have bicycles with child seats and tag-a-longs.
All of our bikes are equipped with back racks, bottle holders and baskets are available upon request.
Anyone who even thinks they could possibly enjoy this tour will not find it strenuous whatsoever. Many who think a bike tour is not something they could or would enjoy are mistaken about how easy and enjoyable our tour would be for them, despite their contrarian belief. And our tours have virtually zero interaction with traffic whatsoever. We are almost always on bike paths which are separate from the roads entirely. Our bike tours are safe, relaxing and not the least bit strenuous!
Yes! We love to have families with (well-behaved) children of ANY age along for the ride! We have child seats for kids under 4 and bikes for kids of all sizes. Small kids too large for a child seat who haven’t learned how to ride a bike yet (get on that dad!!!) can usually manage riding on a tag-a-long bike, which of course we have several of.
Yes, helmets are available yet not required.
Prices have gone up, unfortunately. Lunch at the Chinese Tower beer garden can range from about 10€ up to over 20€, including a beverage, depending upon what you decide to get.
Bringing your own lunch is however an option! You’re very welcome to bring a sandwich and save 10€ or more if you choose to! We spend between 45 minutes to an hour at the beer garden.
Our tour lasts roughly 4 hours. It begins at 11.30 (sharp!) and ends at our shop, Discover Bavaria, at about 3:30. Likewise, a 4:00 afternoon / evening tour will end at our shop at around 8:00 p.m. whereby we have supper in the beer garden from about 6 to 7 p.m.
Our maximum group size is 23. Our average is about 16. Some tours have fewer than 10 persons on them.
Other than lunch there are no additional expenses other than a customary gratuity for your tour guide if you think that he or she did a great job, which is essentially always the case. Customary is between 10 and 20% of the tour cost, per person, of course. We appreciate you keeping our guides motivated throughout the season and to come back again next year, as experienced, professional tour guides are invariably better than 1st-year rookies can be. This policy is one of the major reasons behind why our company’s reputation is as good as it is and we thank you sincerely for your participation and generosity in this MBTs tradition.
