Special requirements
Essential Requirements
Valid Passport: Since we cross the border into Austria for lunch or sightseeing, all guests must carry a valid passport or EU ID card.
Sturdy Footwear: Visiting Neuschwanstein involves a 20–30 minute uphill walk (on paved paths). Comfortable walking shoes or sneakers are highly recommended.
Layered Clothing: Alpine weather changes quickly! Even in summer, a light jacket or sweater is useful for higher altitudes or castle interiors.
Health & Mobility: The castles involve many stairs and significant walking. If anyone in your group has mobility concerns, please let us know in advance so we can arrange for the shuttle bus or horse-drawn carriage (subject to availability).
Booking & Logistics
Advance Castle Tickets: Neuschwanstein tours sell out weeks in advance. We provide a dedicated link to secure your tickets—please book these as soon as your tour is confirmed.
Currency: While most places take cards, having a little cash (Euros) is helpful for small souvenir shops, the Alpine Coaster, or horse-drawn carriages.
Restrictions
Castle & Palace Restrictions
No Large Bags: Backpacks, strollers, and bulky child carriers are strictly prohibited inside Neuschwanstein and Linderhof. These must be left in the vehicle.
No Interior Photography: Professional and private photography or filming (including drones) is prohibited inside all royal palaces. You are welcome to take as many photos as you like of the exteriors and grounds!
Strict Timing: Castle tours operate on a precise schedule. If we miss our entry slot due to guest delays, tickets are non-refundable and cannot be rebooked for the same day.
Pet Policy: While we love animals, pets are not allowed inside the castles or palaces.
Activity & Mobility Restrictions
Alpine Coaster Safety: * Age: Children must be at least 3 years old to ride with an adult.
Solo Riders: Must be at least 8 years old and 1.40m (4’7″) tall.
Health: The coaster is not suitable for pregnant women or guests with back/neck injuries.
Mobility at Neuschwanstein: The walk to the castle is a steep, 20-30 minute uphill climb. While a shuttle and horse carriage exist, they often have long wait times and do not go all the way to the entrance. Please inform us if anyone has limited mobility so we can adjust the pace.
Legal & Border Requirements
Passports Required: Because we cross the border into Austria, every passenger (including infants) must carry a valid physical passport or EU ID card.
No Smoking: Smoking and vaping are strictly prohibited inside all tour vehicles and within the castle/monastery complexes.
Extras
On-Board Comforts (Complimentary)
Family-Friendly Gear: Child car seats and boosters are available upon request at no extra charge.
Umbrellas & Blankets: We come prepared for the changing Alpine weather.
Available Upgrades & Special Requests

Luggage Transfers: If you are moving between cities (e.g., Munich to Salzburg/Innsbruck), we can accommodate your luggage and drop you at your new hotel at the end of the tour.
Celebration Surprises: Planning a proposal or celebrating a birthday? Let us know, and we can arrange for local flowers or a bottle of Franconian sparkling wine.
Health & Safety
Physical Activity & Altitude
Moderate Fitness: This tour involves significant walking, including a steep 20–30 minute uphill climb to Neuschwanstein Castle. Inside the castle, you will navigate approximately 350 stairs.
Altitude Awareness: We will be traveling through high-altitude Alpine regions. If you have cardiovascular or respiratory conditions, please pace yourself and stay hydrated to avoid altitude lightheadedness.
Sun & Weather: Alpine sun is much stronger than in the valley. We recommend wearing SPF 30+ sunscreen and a hat, even on cloudy days.
Proper Gear
Footwear: Sturdy, closed-toe walking shoes or sneakers with good grip are essential. Avoid flip-flops or high heels, as paths can be slippery or uneven.
Layers: Temperatures can drop by 10 to 15 degrees Celsius as we move into the mountains. Always bring a light jacket or sweater.
Medical & Mobility
Mobility Needs: If anyone in your group uses a wheelchair or walker, we must notify the castle administration in advance. Due to fire safety regulations, only one wheelchair user per hour is permitted inside Neuschwanstein.

Liability & Safety
Personal Property: We are not responsible for any loss, theft, or damage to personal items left in the vehicle or at tour sites.

Are we guaranteed to get inside Neuschwanstein Castle?
Yes, provided you book via the dedicated link we send you immediately after your tour confirmation. While the official public website often shows “Sold Out,” we utilize a specialized third-party provider to secure a block of guaranteed tickets for our guests. Note: These tickets must be purchased in advance. We cannot buy interior tour tickets on the day of the trip.
How much walking is actually involved?
A fair amount! Bavaria is best seen on foot. Neuschwanstein: Expect a 20-30 minute uphill walk (steep gradient) to reach the castle. Overall Day: You will likely walk 3–5 miles (5–8 km) throughout the day across various sites. We can arrange horse-drawn carriages or shuttles to help with the climb, but they still require a short walk to the entrance.
Can we change the plan once the tour has started?
Absolutely. This is your day. If you fall in love with a lakeside view and want to stay for an extra coffee, or if you decide you’d rather skip a palace to spend more time on the Alpine Coaster, just tell your guide. As long as we stay within the 11-hour window, the pace and priorities are entirely up to you.
