Tour Itinerary: Neuschwanstein & Oberammergau Highlights
09:00 AM | Departure from Munich Meet your guide and board our luxury coach for a scenic journey into the Bavarian Alps. As we leave the city, your guide will begin sharing the fascinating history of King Ludwig II.
10:30 AM | Oberammergau Self Guided Walking Tour: Your first stop is the world-famous village of Oberammergau.where you will enjoy a self guided stroll to admire the stunning house frescoes (Lüftlmalerei) and learn about the 400-year history of the Passion Play. You’ll have a little time to browse the local woodcarving shops before we head to the castles.
OR
10:40 AM You will be dropped off at the base of the Alpine Coaster. Once we have paid and recieved our tickets we take a 20 minute Chair Lift up to the top of the mountain and from there we have a safety briefing and coast all the way down. We then walk to the bus pickup point.
12:00 Drive to the Castle via the scenic Romantic Road.
01:00 PM | Brewery Lunch with a View We arrive in Schwangau for lunch at the Schlossbrauhaus Schwangau. Relax in the traditional dining hall or the beer garden, which offers spectacular panoramic views of Neuschwanstein Castle towering above. Enjoy a fresh Alpine beer and hearty Bavarian specialties. We take the orders on the bus to save us time.
02:30 PM | Neuschwanstein Castle Experience After lunch, we move to the foot of the mountain. Your guide will provide your Guaranteed Skip-the-Line Tickets. You can choose to hike up (40 mins) or take the shuttle bus to Mary’s Bridge (Marienbrücke) for that perfect postcard photo before your interior tour.
03:45 PM | Guided Interior Tour Enter the “Fairytale Castle” for your official guided tour of King Ludwig’s opulent private chambers and grand halls.
05:15 PM | Departure from Schwangau We board the bus for a relaxing return journey, winding through the foothills of the Alps.
07:00 PM | Arrival in Munich Drop-off back in central Munich, just in time for your evening plans.

Meeting Point: Please meet us at our shop, located conveniently just around the corner from the Hofbräuhaus.
Address: Discover Bavaria Shop, CORNER of Hochbrückenstrasse 10 & Bräuhausstraße 10, 80331 Munich.
Departure Time: We will meet promptly at 8:30 AM for an 8:45 AM departure.
Punctuality is essential: We are required to collect your pre-booked tickets from the castle ticket office at 11:00 AM. To ensure we have your tickets and avoid a total disaster, we must leave on time with no exceptions. Please be punctual.
Return Time: We will have you back in Munich between 7:00 PM and 7:30 PM.
Payment on Tour Day:
All payments for your tickets and gratuities are due in cash on the day of your tour.
Please remember to bring enough cash with you to enjoy your day, as credit cards are not accepted for these payments.
What to bring
As Bavaria is still very much CASH based, we recommend bringing enough cash with you to pay for the castle tickets, coffee’s, gratuities etc.

🏰 Neuschwanstein Interior Restrictions
No Photography/Video: Photography and videography are strictly prohibited inside Neuschwanstein Castle.
Stairs & Mobility: The interior tour involves climbing and descending over 300 stairs. There is no elevator for the general public.
Strict Time Slots: Entry is strictly timed. If a guest misses their assigned window (even by a minute), the ticket becomes void with no refunds.
No Large Bags: Backpacks, bulky bags, and strollers are not permitted inside. These must be left on the bus.
🚶 Physical & Accessibility Restrictions
Steep Uphill Climb: The walk to the castle is a steep, 30–40 minute uphill hike.
Carriage Limits: Horse-drawn carriages at Neuschwanstein only operate for the downhill journey. To go up, guests must walk or wait for the shuttle bus.
Not Wheelchair Accessible: Due to the historic nature of the castle and the steep terrain, this tour is not recommended for those with significant mobility limitations.

Group Size: This is a shared coach tour with up to 49 guests. The itinerary is fixed, and the bus must depart Oberammergau and the Brewery on schedule to make the assigned castle slot.
No Linderhof: This specific itinerary focuses on Oberammergau and Neuschwanstein only; there is no stop at Linderhof Palace.
No Drones: Flying drones anywhere near the castles or the surrounding forest is illegal and strictly enforced by local police.

Transport to the Castle Entrance: The bus drops everyone at the village level. To reach the castle itself:
Shuttle Bus: Approx. €3.50 one way. We walk back down to the bus. Non strenuous.
Horse-Drawn Carriage: Approx. €4.00 – €8.00 (Note: At Neuschwanstein, carriages usually only run downhill for the benefit of our tour).
Brewery Lunch: Guests should budget roughly €15.00 – €25.00 per person for a traditional Bavarian meal and a beer/drink at our local brewery stop.
The “Personal Touches”
Souvenirs: Oberammergau is world-famous for its hand-carved wood and Christmas ornaments. Guests often spend between €10.00 and €100.00+ here depending on the craft. CC accepted here of course.
Guide & Driver Gratuities: If your guests have a blast, a tip is a standard way to show appreciation. A common range is €5.00 – €10.00 per person for the guide and a few Euros for the driver.
Rain Gear: While you provide complimentary ponchos, many guests choose to buy a more durable umbrella or souvenir jacket if the Alpine weather turns.

Alternatives: If you prefer not to dine at the brewery, your guide can point out local alternatives for a quick snack or picnic.

Q: How far in advance should I book this tour?
We highly recommend booking your Neuschwanstein tour as far in advance as possible, especially during peak season (summer, holidays, Oktoberfest). This tour is very popular and sells out quickly, primarily due to the limited availability of castle entrance tickets which are often sold out months in advance which is why we are the best choice to avoid being dissapointedd.Q: Must I decide when I book if I want to do the Alpine Coaster?

- Inside the 24 hours, no option for a refund however we can reschedule.
- Should you have to cancel your tour we will either try to reschedule or give you a credit for the entire amount to be used up to 5 years after the original tour date.
- All tours run regardless of weather (unless said weather is extreme in which case MBT reserve the right to cancel the tour and either reschedule or refund the entire tour amount), so please dress weather appropriate.
