Road Bike Tours
In 2012 (exact dates to be announced shortly), Mike's Bike Tours will offer its very first multi-day cycling vacation tour through the Southern Alps of Bavaria!
Please read about our tour and if you would like to join us, send us an email and we will be happy to answer any questions you may have or call you back to consult with you personally over the phone. In the meantime, we will be putting together some video material and everything else we will be publishing as soon as possible.
General Information
This highly flexible guided and van-supported tour will leave from Munich, end in Salzburg and generally cover between 50 and 70 miles per day. This tour is geared towards intermediate to advanced cyclists, yet non-riders are welcome to come along and take advantage of our van service as much as they want to. Alternative routes are offered every day for those looking for longer and / or more challenging rides. Our van is never far away and we provide each guest with a cell phone so they can reach us at any time.

It’s up to you if you want to ride on your own, or with our guide, Jochin. Either way, after the morning briefing with a route map for the day in hand, you will be confident riding on your own if you should choose to. Longer routes are also prepared and laid out in detail for those interested. We consult with each guest, individually regarding their personal plan for the day. Groups will be limited to a maximum of 16 persons.
Options are offered on most days, such as a hiking, sightseeing, swimming, paragliding, among other activities.
Accommodation
All accommodation is included in the tour price. In most cases we have chosen hotels with excellent wellness (sauna and steam bath) facilities. All accommodation is minimally three-star superior comfort, including an evening atop a mountain in a rustic yet very comfortable “alm”. There is an upgrade option on one night of the tour to stay at the exclusive, five-star resort hotel near Mittenwald, which is Schloss Elmau, for which there is an extra charge of €200 per person.
Support
We use one van on most days, but a second van is never far away and can be called in should additional support be necessary. Unlike most cycling vacation tour companies, the owner and operator of Mike's Bike Tours is only about 65 miles from wherever the tour is happening, and Mike is certainly looking forward to visiting the group for at least a few dinners and / or lunches!
Your Guide
Our guide is a very experienced and personable 44 year old German named Jochin who has helped us plan this tour over a period of two seasons. He speaks perfect English and has been riding around Southern Bavaria as an enthusiastic cyclist for over twenty years.

Bikes
It is up to you whether you want to bring your own bike or have us provide one custom fit for you. We charge €250 for the rental and fitting, including all desired accessories. Each bike is equipped with a tachometer computer, water bottles, pump, under-seat bag with tire irons and an extra tube.
We provide very light, hi-end road and hybrid bikes. Details and photos will be added here shortly. We request you bring your own shoes, pedals and if desired, seat. All bikes will be set up by a professional before the beginning of our tour. Naturally Jochin and our support team are also qualified to make repairs and adjustments while out on the road.
We are not offering a standard bike at this time and therefore cannot offer specific component details. We work with Munich’s primary TREK dealer, as well as a highly qualified local bike shop. These partners can provide us with just about whatever kind of bike and size we could want and we will custom fit each client with the desired proportions based on data provided on our fitting form.
If you want us to organize a bike for you we will email you a fitting form / guide upon request to make sure we get each individual’s dimensions just right. We can also consult with you over the phone regarding and special requests in order to best know exactly what type of bike you would like us to provide, though it is a classic road bike that we recommend.
Our aim is 100% customer enthusiasim and that our guests will want to come back to join us on other tours we will be offering beginning in 2012.
