Looking for Work

One of the primary reasons why MBTs Munich has achieved its outstanding reputation over 14 years is because we have always had absolutely outstanding guides who have all been well-paid and allowed to also collect gratuities when people pay (them) at the end of the bike tour, the result of which has been most guides wanting to come back for numerous seasons. Consequently, we only need to hire about 2 new guides every year, and these people have usually been highly-recommended friends of guides current or past or those that have had exactly the qualities we look for in potential guides, at just the right time (usually in the spring), that have come to us looking for a job here in Munich.

Getting to the point, we cannot hire anybody as a tour guide before we meet and interview them personally. Consequently, a simple email just won´t cut it. The best and almost the only way to get a job as a guide with MBTs Munich is to be here and come by for an interview at a time when we are hiring, which is generally in May, though March or April are not a bad time to apply.

MBTs Munich will be offering an INTERNSHIP PROGRAM for periods of 2 to 4 months in duration. Our intern-team will have 4 to 6 persons in May and June as well as in July and August, 2009. This learning opportunity will offer significant educational "material" in the field of Marketing (by Mike Lasher) and/or in becoming fluent in the German language, with lessons from Mike and/or his daughters, Denise (21) and Nadine (19) or his wife, Uschi. Interns will be required to work approximately 6 hours daily in promotions, support and as guide-trainees, with the possibility of eventual promotion. Compensation is (only) approximately $5 per hour, which is NOT enough to live on, rather only enough to cover daily expenses and a beer or two (per day).

We are interested in STUDENTS that are motivated by the opportunity to learn, experience a summer in one of the world´s greatest cities and to enjoy one of the best summers of their life with a young and FUN team and a great entertainment company. These people must therefore provide their own "subsidy" to cover their rent and travel expenses. It is possible to get a room in Munich for about $400 (275 Euros) per month. We can assist you in finding a place to live. Another possibility is to live in a Youth Hotel for the 8 weeks, which would ammount to about 500 Euros per month, though we may be able to negotiate that down to as low as 300 Euros. A confirmation of the rates for staying in a Budget Hotel will be available and eventually posted here in January, 2009.

Interns will be required to commit to a minimum of two months participation and give an honest effort in their duties, especially in promotions/sales to tourists in our core target-market, younger, native English speaking travellers. We are looking for highly motivated and intelligent people with an excellent attitude. It is our goal to offer a very enriching and valuable experience for those that participate in this internship offer.

If you are interested in applying, send an email to Mike (above) with the title: Application for Internship Program and describe yourself and why you would be good for our team. Include your age, a photo, when you would want to be in the program (from May 1st to August 31st), what college you have attended as well as at least one reference from your school and one from a previous employer. A resume as an attached file is not desired, however a well-written summary of the above is.
