A country-side Castle with magic and lure!

The legendary Neuschwanstein castle, built by Ludwig II of Bavaria, is very arguably the world's most famous castle, and it's just 90 minutes Southwest of Munich and only one of several wonderful places we take our guests on an excursion here from Munich.

These mountains are in Garmisch, which is a bit more than an hour south of Munich and home of Germany's tallest and most famous mountain, the Zugspitze. Drive fast....on the Autobahn!

On Germany's legendary autobahn, we'll only get up to about 100 m.p.h. (160 kmh), unless you want us to keep the tempo lower. That's Germany's tallest mountain up ahead, the Zugspitze.

Private Sightseeing Tours from Munich to Neuschwanstein & Linderhof

Our private exclusive tour to Neuschwanstein Castle, including a visit to the Linderhof Palace
is by far the most popular option of our private guided tours from Munich. Neuschwanstein
castle is about 90 mins SW of Munich.

On this excursion, we usually visit the charming town of Oberammergau first (approximately
30 minutes) and then proceed onward for a one-hour visit to Linderhof Palace. From there we
embark on a lovely 1 hour drive to Neuschwanstein during which we usually stop alongside a
magnificent alpine lake and eventually drive past the medieval town of Füssen.

Upon arrival in the town of Hohenschwangau, where Neuschwanstein is, we will not only
see the magnificent Neuschwanstein castle but also the castle Ludwig II grew up in, which is
called Schloss Hohenschwangau. At this time we have lunch together for about an hour.

After lunch it is already around 2:00 p.m. at which time we usually begin the ascent from the
falley up to the precipice where Neuschwanstein stands. This is a 20 minute walk uphill for
those that are relatively fit, for those that are relatively unfit, about 30 minutes. For those that
are less than relatively unfit, there is a bus that goes up the back way, which costs 2 Euros.
The horse and carriage option costs 6 Euros per person, only goes up 2/3 of the way, moves
at the same pace as fit walkers and sounds more charming than it actually is.

After the tour of the interior of Neuschwanstein, which takes less than an hour from the time
you go in until you come out, we usually visit the bridge which is approximately 300 feet
above a spectacular gorge, which we also usually walk down through to get back into the
valley.

Extra possible activities for the young and young at heart –

For families with young kids and more active types we offer the opportunity to also enjoy

Going out onto the Alpsee on paddle boats. On hot summer days, come prepared to swim in
any case!

Taking a few rides on an alpine slide!

Tandem Paragliding!

Trampoline jumping with a bungee harness!

Taking a guided bike ride around the area.

Please Note: Though Mike and Siggi always enjoy the day out on our private tours and expect
to not get back to Munich before 7:00 p.m., we hope our guests will consider a gratuity, most
especially for tours arriving back to Munich relatively late after a 9:00 a.m. start when this is
due to taking advantage of more than one of extra activities listed above.
